The term flooring

is used to describe all flooring products supplied by The Carpet Shop (Swindon) Ltd.

Fitting

is arranged by The Carpet Shop (Swindon) Ltd. All fitters who carry out our work are trusted, self-employed fitters, and all carry Public Liability insurance.

Preparation for Fitting

Ensure the room is clear of furniture (this service is available at an additional cost upon request).Breakables, electrical items, and plumbed items must be removed as they are not covered by the flooring fitter's insurance.Ensure old flooring is uplifted and the floor is clear and free of foreign objects, ready for the new flooring. This service can be offered at an additional cost.Check door clearance to ensure the new flooring will not impede the door operation. Door cutting is available for most doors excluding solid oak or oak-cased doors, at an additional cost.

Work Care

Fitters will carry out their work with reasonable skill and care, but home décor may be marked or scuffed during the fitting process, especially new paintwork or wallpaper. Gloss painted skirting boards must be allowed a minimum of 4 days to dry to avoid damage.New carpet backings may leave marks on dark-coloured paints, which can be wiped off with a wet cloth but may need a feathering of paint.

Sub Floor Issues

The Carpet Shop (Swindon) Ltd cannot be held responsible for hidden subfloor issues that are not visible until old flooring has been removed. If you are aware of any potential issues in your property, please inform us in advance. Any additional costs for repair work will be met by the customer. If the subfloor is damaged, please arrange repair work and notify the shop immediately. We offer a floor repair service (cost available on request). Hidden pipework under the floor can also cause issues. If you are unsure, we can stick down the gripper at a cost of £0.50 per meter.

Latex Screed

Latex screed is a smoothing compound, not a leveling compound, and should not be used as such.

General Advice for New Carpets

After fitting, if you notice a line in the carpet, it is usually caused by pressure from the tube it was wrapped around. This will clear within 2 weeks depending on home temperature. You can vacuum your new carpet immediately, except for natural flooring, which needs 24 hours for the glue to cure.

Restocking Fee

A 25% restocking fee applies for any cancellations after the order is placed. If the customer cancels the order or returns the product, this fee will cover restocking charges from suppliers.
